Central Sydney GP Network


Central and Eastern Sydney PHN (CESPHN) assists in the operations of Central Sydney GP Network since July 2015. Building on Central Sydney GP Network’s strengths, the PHN has an expanded scope of action that includes new allied health and community programs. PHNs are primary health care organisations designed to coordinate primary health care delivery and tackle local health care needs and service gaps.

CSGPN is a one third member of Central and Eastern Sydney PHN.

CSGPN donates funds contributed by CSGPN members to local Community Programmes.

In 2013-14 CSGPN have donated funds to the following Community Programs:

  • Marrickville Breakfast Club - a program run by the Marrickville South Youth Workers Group. This program gave Aboriginal young people and other participants an opportunity to be involved in regular exercise, have access to healthy meals, engage with local service providers and receive assistance to attend school.
  • A Community Kitchens program run by Newtown Neighbourhood Centre. This provided an opportunity for a group of people who have experienced homelessness or are on low incomes to meet regularly to socialise and cook affordable and nutritious meals.
  • The Muslim Women’s Support Centre, a non-profit service that provides non discriminatory programs and activities for women and children escaping domestic violence or in crisis


Central and Eastern Sydney PHN (CESPHN) is a not for profit company that comprises of member organisations:

The seven owners each have their own board of directors and memberships.


The Board for 2016 will consist of the following:

  • Dr Vanessa Moran
  • Dr Margot Woods

CSGPN boards will consist of four Directors elected by Ordinary Members of CSGPN and up to two persons appointed by the elected Directors.


The CSGPN area comprises the local government areas of Ashfield, Burwood, Canada Bay, Canterbury, Leichhardt, Marrickville, Strathfield and the southern and western statistical local areas of the Sydney local government area.* Currently CSGPN has 525 Financial Ordinary Members and 55 Financial Associate Members.


Ordinary Membership
General Practitioners, Aboriginal Health Workers, Practice Managers or Practice Nurses whose practice is in the Central Sydney GP Network area* are eligible to apply for Ordinary Membership.

Associate Membership
The following are eligible to apply:
(a) General Practitioners, Aboriginal Health Workers, Practice Managers or Practice Nurses whose practice is outside the Central Sydney GP Network area*
(b) Any person, body corporate or other association whom the Directors in their discretion consider suitable for associate membership of the Company; or
(c) a GP Registrar (no application is required for GP Registrar Associate membership if practising in the Central Sydney GP Network area)

Ordinary: Initial fee $110 per annum (to renew $110) subscription year is 1 July to 30 June
Associate: Initial fee $110 per annum (to renew $110) subscription year is 1 July to 30 June

  • newsletter
  • able to nominate for Board Director and committee positions
  • eligible to be considered for paid work eg. working group, advisor, external representation
  • vote at AGM and General Meetings
  • practice support (eg. computerisation, e-communication, accreditation)
